What Are You Grateful For?

Gratitude will change your perspective. My days are busy, really busy. Most, if not all of you would say the same. So many of us juggle work, raising kids, driving kids all over the place for activities, cooking, cleaning, house maintenance, and if we are lucky squeezing in some time for self-care and a little fun!

When you are in that hamster wheel of craziness, sometimes it can be really hard to not get caught up in it. It’s easy to slip into that, I’m exhausted, why is life so hard, woe is me mindset. I recently found myself there, feeling sad and sorry for myself. Yes, life can be overwhelming. Some days are really challenging. But, I do believe it’s the tough times that help us recognize and truly enjoy the great, happy, blissful times in our lives.

My girlfriend Jenn recently invited me to a join a gratitude Facebook group. A group where you commit to posting every day for 100 days sharing what you’re grateful for. Today is day 21 for me. It has been an eye opening 21 days. I absolutely loving having my newsfeed filled with positivity. Even on days that have been tough, I easily find things that I’m grateful for. From night time snuggles with the kids to getting cozy by the fire with a book, to a two minute phone call with Jeremy. There is ALWAYS something to be grateful for. Heck, sometimes I’m simply grateful for the fact that we all made it through the day with out driving each other insane. (This may have something to do with being snowed in for 3 days!)

Focusing on what’s going well, all the positive things in your life, no matter how small or insignificant they may seem, will undoubtedly help you attract more positivity. Whereas, focusing on the negative, will attract more negativity. We are magnets, people! Whether you want to believe it or not. And I for one, want to be a magnet for positivity. Bring on the happy, healthy, abundant vibes in 2018.

While we were snowed in last week, one of my favorite activities with the kids (believe me there were many) was working on our 2018 vision boards. I talked to them about manifesting, and what that really means. Then I had Brody and Ava work together to make a list of all the things they want to happen this year. These kids are dreaming BIG, and I love it!

We’ve been practicing gratitude as a family too. They like to say silly things that make me laugh. It’s become one of the favorite parts of my day. I encourage you to try it. Even if you aren’t the journaling type (although I tend to think a little writing is good for all of us), simply think of 3 things you are grateful for each night as you lay down in bed and each morning as you wake up. Even if you are hit with a doozy of day, or you get some unexpected news (like the kids are getting an early dismissal from school AGAIN! lol) you will still find something that makes your heart smile, and renew your faith that tomorrow is a new day and the possibilities are endless.

Sending you all love and light on this cold Monday!

And if any of you happen to be interested in joining the gratitude FB group, just let me know and I’ll happily add you!
