Tap to Release Self-Judgement

Self-judgment is sneaky.

It’s the inner voice that whispers, “You should’ve known better,” or “You’re not doing enough.”

It shows up in the form of overthinking, perfectionism, comparison, or that chronic feeling that you’re somehow falling short.

For many of us—especially high-achievers, caregivers, and entrepreneurs—this voice has been there for years. It may have even motivated you to get things done or meet expectations. But at what cost?

Constant self-criticism keeps the nervous system on high alert. It feeds stress, fuels burnout, and can even create physical tension and pain in the body. And here's the thing: you can’t shame yourself into change. Real, sustainable growth doesn’t come from being hard on yourself. It comes from compassion.

That’s where EFT, or Emotional Freedom Techniques, comes in.

Tapping gives you a way to interrupt the self-judgment spiral—not by pretending it’s not there, but by acknowledging it with compassion.

Instead of bypassing the inner critic or trying to drown it out with positive affirmations, EFT allows you to say...

"Even though I feel like I should be further along... I accept myself anyway."

"Even though I’m judging myself for how I handled that situation... I’m open to the possibility of self-compassion."

When you tap on these statements while physically stimulating acupressure points on the body, you’re helping your nervous system feel safer in the moment. And when your body feels safe, it’s easier to let go.

Let go of the shoulds.

Let go of the pressure.

Let go of the belief that self-judgment is the only way to stay on track.

Because the truth is, self-compassion doesn’t make you lazy.

It makes you resilient.

And the more you meet yourself with softness—especially in the moments you feel like you’ve messed up—the easier it becomes to shift. Gently. Authentically. Without the whip of self-criticism guiding the way.

So if you’ve been stuck in that loop of “I should be doing more / doing better / feeling different by now,” take a moment. Place your hands on your heart. Take a breath. And maybe even try tapping through it.

You might be surprised by what’s possible when you stop fighting yourself and start listening instead.
